There are two types of air movement:

Positive Displacement - Positive (volumetric) displacement forces air into a confined space, usually through the movement of a mechanical device.

Dynamic displacement - Compared to a positive displacement compressor, which physically reduces the volume of air captured, the dynamic compressor significantly increases the air velocity. The energy created from this builds up air pressure.
